CA Rural Voice

the Challenge

The State of California provides resources for (among many things) infrastructure, education, and mental health. But it will take more than resource-based support to adequately to address and resolve the urgent challenges faced in rural communities. And moreover, we’re missing vital input for making sound statewide decisions. Rural regions provide crucial resources (water, lumber, food, recreation, etc.), but don’t feel they have a seat at the table, especially when decisions need to reflect the unique needs of rural regions. As a result, despite generous state support, much of rural California still feels forgotten.

Challenge Provides Opportunity

R Voice provides an opportunity to cross county lines and partisan aisles, and move beyond preconceptions in order to better serve the families and communities of rural California. This is a solution who’s time has come.

While California continues to lead the nation in our commitment to the health and well-being of our people, we are a diverse state in geography, demographics, and socio-economics.
We would be well-served to become more mindful of the rural county needs, solicitous of their input, and conversant with how policy can impact urban and rural areas very differently. There is more to be gained by engaging and supporting these communities, than by dismissing them.
